International Web Conferencing

Back in the bad old days before the Internet came along, whenever a group of global businessmen needed to discuss business in any way that wouldnt be possible on the telephone, they had no choice but to catch a plane to one anothers countries to hold a conference. This is true no longer. As technology improves and connection speeds increase, it becomes easier by the day for businessmen to contact their clients and colleagues with international web conferencing.

This trend for using the Internet to contact clients and colleagues began several years ago in a very basic form. Businesspeople would take part in conferences using online message boards and forums. This has since developed to the point at which businesspeople can utilise various software to enable screen sharing basically, each connected user can see what the others have on their screens. When combined with voice communication either using traditional telephone lines or voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), international web conferencing has become much more in depth and useful. Perhaps it is useful to the point at which physical meetings between distant clients and colleagues may no longer be necessary.

Of course, the ramifications of this could be immense. Most large businesses spend many thousands of dollars each year to fly employees around the world to confer with clients. Without that necessity it becomes possible to save that money and put it to use elsewhere. In addition to this, the time gained by using international web conferencing will allow employees to utilise their time much more efficiently, avoiding the hassles of long delays, stopovers and jet lag. With these benefits, it seems international web conferencing is here to stay.
